Start and Finish at Bucklesham
Starting at Bucklesham will take you to Eyke for two nights and onto Dunwich for two nights. In Eyke you can enjoy off road cycling in Rendlesham Forest and at Dunwich your can cycle a loop to Beccles and Southwold or enjoy miles of heathland and forest cycling.
TRAVEL BY TRAIN
We can arrange pick up and drop off at Ipswich Station. Please call for details.
If travelling with a bike, Bucklesham is about 6 miles from the station.
Day 1, Saturday
Arrive in Bucklesham
Drive to your starting campsite near Bucklesham, E of Ipswich. You will park your vehicle here for the duration of your holiday. Bicycles will be delivered to your tent during the day.

Day 2, Sunday
Bucklesham to Eyke
This part of the tour takes you around the Victorian seaside town of Felixstowe, now the busiest container port in the UK. From here you will cross the River Deben estuary (by foot & cycle ferry for which a small fare is required) to the pretty Bawdsey Quay. Carrying on along the coastal route and then through Rendlesham Forest - a vast area of forest, famous for UFO sightings. Together with Tunstall and Dunwich Forests, the three forests cover much of the sandy heath lands found along the Suffolk coastline. The forest routes open up some excellent off road cycling opportunities before arriving at your next site in Eyke.
Bypass Felixstowe if you like and choose from any number of forest tracks or an on road option if you prefer.

Day 3, Monday
Day tour Exploring the Forests (Optional Rest Day)
Choose a waymarked forest trail or make your own way through both Rendlesham and Tunstall Forests. Enjoy getting away from traffic completely.
Do nothing if you please or cycle into Woodbridge and have a swim in the local pool.

Day 4,Tuesday
Eyke to Dunwich
Take a track across Rendlesham Forest and cycle into Orford, an attractive small town steeped in history. Here you can visit the castle or take a river trip to admire amazing coastal scenery. Continuing onwards through Snape and the smuggling hamlet of Eastbridge, will bring you to the coastal village of Dunwich, with its abundance of spectacular cliff top views and nature reserves which are managed by the national trust.
Choose to detour off to popular Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Leiston or Sizewell. Alternatively take a short cut through Dunwich forest to enjoy some off road cycling.

Day 5, Wednesday
Day tours around Dunwich (Optional Rest Day)
A choice of tours around Dunwich. Take a long tour to Beccles and Southwold. 40+ miles in length it will take you past a church built within a church's ruins at Covehithe. Alternatively take a short trip into Southwold via the foot ferry over the River Blythe, cycle back the long way via the bustling market town of Halesworth. A third option keeps to the coastal heathlands east of Westleton and south of Dunwich and offers lots of off road cycling.
Lots of alternatives in the area, including cycling in Dunwich Forest and doing absolutely nothing but sunbathing on the beach.

Day 6, Thursday
Dunwich to Wickham Market
Cycle out over the heaths of Dunwich. On route you will pass many attractive villages that line this part of Suffolk. Enjoy the quiet lanes and country vistas that mark your way south to Peasenhall. Here the main street is set beside a little watercourse with thatched and colourwashed cottages aside. Continuing onwards through the pleasant Suffolk countryside you will arrive at your next site near Wickham Market.
Take the route via historic Framlingham or visit the bustling market town of Halesworth, set on the river Blythe.

Day 7, Friday
Wickham Market to Bucklesham
Cycle through the attractive estate village of Easton and on to the ancient market town of Framlingham. Visit the castle or muse the many attractive buildings that border the streets and alleyways that lead off from the triangular market square. Continuing through attractive rolling countryside and historic hamlets you will eventually arrive in the former shipbuilding town of Woodbridge, set on the River Deben. From here you pass the riverside and sailing community of Waldringfield before arriving at your campsite near Bucklesham.
Take a more direct route cutting out Framlingham or alternatively extend your journey by taking in some of the Heart of Suffolk route.
