Cycling through the historic market town of Framlingham and picturesque Woodbridge, around the coast to Orford, with plenty of off road cycling in the nearby Rendlesham Forest. You can spend a day touring on The Witch Finders Way, by taking a ferry over the River Stour / Orwell estuaries at Felixstowe to Harwich in north Essex.

We can arrange pick up and drop off at Wickham Market Station. Please call for details.
If travelling with a bike, Wickham Market is about 2 miles from the station.

Day 1, Monday

Arrive in Wickham Market

Drive to your starting campsite near Wickham Market. You will park your vehicle here for the duration of your holiday.
Bicycles will be delivered to your tent during the day.

Day 2, Tuesday

Wickham Market to Bucklesham

Cycle through the attractive estate village of Easton and on to the ancient market town of Framlingham. Visit the castle or muse the many attractive buildings that border the streets and alleyways that lead off from the triangular market square.
Continuing through attractive rolling countryside and historic hamlets you will eventually arrive in the former shipbuilding town of Woodbridge, set on the River Deben.
From here you pass the riverside and sailing community of Waldringfield before arriving at your campsite near Bucklesham.

Take a more direct route cutting out Framlingham or alternatively extend your journey by taking in some of the Heart of Suffolk route.

Day 3, Wednesday

Day tour, The Witchfinders Way, via ferry to Harwich
(Optional Rest Day)

Take a foot ferry (with your bike, for a small fee) across the Stour and Orwell estuaries to Harwich where you can cycle the Witchfinders Way.
From Harwich, famous for its seafaring history and heritage the route heads through rolling countryside and picturesque villages, to the little port of Mistley, haunt of Matthew Hopkins, the Witchfinder General from 1645-1646. He was employed to hunt out the areas witches. The route returns to Harwich via the River Stour with its views and riverside hamlets.
Get the ferry back and relax after a full day out.

Day 4, Thursday

Bucklesham to Wickham Market

Wind your way through (or around) the Victorian Seaside town of Felixstowe and then onto the River Deben foot ferry. From here you travel near the coast to historic Orford, where you can take a boat trip or visit the castle. Turning inland through forest lined lanes will take you towards Wickham Market.

You can bypass Felixstowe to avoid traffic and take a variety of forest tracks from Orford instead of sticking to the cycle route.
